I have always had a passion for supporting and working with families and young people. This has led to my involvement volunteering in youth clubs supporting young people in various platforms and activities through participation and personal development. It made me realized how much I enjoyed face to face interaction with members of the community and led me to pursue a career in Community Development which was obtained through Goldsmiths University of London. I was so inspired to continue my education and support young people I went on to gaining my BA hons in community work.
My experience working with children and young people spans over 12 years gained in the field of Youth and Community Development in Guyana and the United Kingdom while employed with a local authority. I am passionate about family support and development and believe it is important to give back to the community by sharing experiences and skills with those in need, hard to engage and at a disadvantage.
In my work practice and general approach to life, I am fully committed to valuing differences in people, whilst at the same time treating everyone with equal consideration. It has played an integral part in my role as a Project Manager and Community Worker. This encourages active participation and enables me to perform within the remit of the aims and objectives and in accordance of all projects and those who are involved.
My aim in this Charity is to provide programs to empower families through trainings on leadership, decision-making and other skills they are interested in developing. These informal learning programs prepares individuals for creative growth that facilitates further learning and development.
My life has been greatly improved thanks to individuals and families I have worked with or supported. I value those I come into contact with and they have given me greater appreciation for my skills, knowledge and experiences within the communities both locally and internationally.
